Your New Role . We are looking to hire a highly driven, dedicated and self-starter Senior Medical Compliance Officer to help ensure our standards and procedures meet all healthcare laws and regulations. This role will be responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring compliance programs that help the organization stay within legal and ethical boundaries. This role will inform management, staff, drivers, and independent contractors of the rules they need to follow to prevent irregularities and contribute to implementing an adequate compliance program by educating staff and independent contractors on compliance matters. The HCO will lead company-wide initiatives that emphasize compliance, audit and reporting, and perform a range of administrative support tasks. The HCO leads the charge in ensuring things are done the right way, the first time, every time. And, when theyre not or issues come up, the HCO will be responsible for identifying them, remediating them, and keeping the organization on track for excellence. Objectives of this role . Regularly communicating with government agencies and independent contractors to ensure all business operations comply with laws and company compliance program From day to day, ensure everyone adheres to legal standards and company policies and standards Act as the liaison between the organization and clients, ensuring staff/drivers/independent contractors comply with set company and client standards, policies and procedures Liaise with other departmental heads to ensure that all business operations are in line with company policies and government regulations Develop and implement department-wide quality control measures Maintain communication with dispatch, staff members, drivers, independent contractors and clients (pharmacies/labs/hospitals etc.) to ensure adherence to protocols across key touch points Key Duties and Responsibilities . Keep up to date with changing regulations and healthcare laws to ensure the companys policies and procedures adhere to the necessary rules Put in place compliance policies, procedures, processes, and codes of conduct that comply with regulations and prevent legal liability Analyze internal business systems to ensure compliance with industry regulations and ethical standards Pursue and maintain necessary and required accreditation identifying which accreditation are needed, applying for them, adhering to the standards, ensuring ongoing compliance to maintain accreditation status Develop, modify, update and implement programs that ensure the organization complies with all relevant laws and regulations i.e. a variety of documents, procedures and protocols (such as checklists, forms and SOPs) and distribute accordingly Design ongoing training programs e.g. compliance training to raise staff/independent contractor awareness of legal issues Onboard and train new and existing staff/drivers/independent contractors on compliance topics such as fraud, awareness, billing practices, and referral handling and ensuring that they adhere to industry regulations, ethical standards and set company guidelines and policies Ensure that records, billing methods, and other sources of personal patient/client information are kept confidential Communicate with drivers/independent contractors to make sure all services are provided in accordance with the compliance program Design control systems to address cases of violations of internal business policies Perform internal audits to ensure compliance with regulations Lead investigations into compliance concerns by identifying offenses, respond promptly and appropriately, and recommend the required corrective actions Advise top management on business operations relating to investment, risks and any other policy development Maintain good business relationships with customers and clients, and develop new relationships when the opportunities present themselves Organize and attend client meetings as well as meetings for internal staffOther Responsibilities . Support Dispatch in managing dispatch activities using in-house and client software Provide administrative support to departments/staff/independent contractors as needed Conduct performance reviews judiciously and motivate staff/independent contractors Perform or assist with other duties and projects as needed/assignedRequired skills and qualifications . A bachelors degree in a relevant field, such as Health Administration, Nursing, Public Health or Law In-dept knowledge of healthcare industry standards, rules and regulations such as HIPAA, Stark Law, Anti-Kickback Statue, and the False Claims Act Strong communication (verbal and written) and conflict management skills Excellent interpersonal skills Proven organizational skills, including time management Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills Self-sufficiency and the ability to work with minimal supervision Ability to solve problems when they arise Attention to detail Required And Preferred Certifications . Certified in Healthcare Compliance (CHC) Required Certified in Healthcare Privacy Compliance (CHPC) Required Certified Compliance and Ethics Professional (CCEP) Preferred Certified in Healthcare Research Compliance (CHRC) Preferred Preferred skills and qualifications . Previous experience working in Healthcare Compliance Previous experience in healthcare logistics/transportation Experience in auditing, investigations, and corrective action planning is a plus Experience working in a fast-paced environment in which collaboration in all directions is necessary Proficiency with Microsoft Office and other productivity applications and platforms Able to work varying hours as necessary Must be able to pass a drug screening and comprehensive background check (criminal & civil for city, county, state and nationwide) Championing Inclusion at NCE .
