This is not a routine ETL or reporting role. The ideal candidate is a hands-on data architect and builder with proven experience engineering massive, consumer-scale data ecosystems - systems that process billions of records or terabytes of data daily. You will design, implement, and optimize enterprise data pipelines that unify complex, siloed systems into high-performance platforms for analytics, AI, and decision support. Key Responsibilities * Engineer at Scale: Design and build enterprise-grade data pipelines that process millions to billions of events daily - unifying thousands of data tables and sources across systems and clouds. * Architect for Performance: Optimize ingestion, transformation, and storage layers for speed, cost, and resilience using Spark, Databricks, Glue, Airflow, or equivalent frameworks. * Unify Data Silos: Integrate operational, transactional, behavioral, and product data into unified, analytics-ready structures. * Deliver Measurable Impact: Engineer solutions that drive quantifiable results - e.g., cutting ETL runtime by 80%, enabling real-time analytics, or reducing infrastructure cost by millions. * Stream Real-Time Data: Implement streaming data pipelines with Kafka or similar technologies to power low-latency analytics and insights. * Collaborate in Agile: Work within Agile teams alongside analysts, data scientists, and developers to deliver production-grade solutions with measurable business outcomes. * Modernize & Automate: Refactor legacy pipelines, introduce automation, and implement data quality frameworks that scale seamlessly across the enterprise. Minimum Qualifications * 8-12+ years of professional experience in data engineering, architecture, or large-scale platform development. * Proven record of enterprise-scale projects with specific, quantifiable results - e.g., "merged 4,000+ tables," "reduced pipeline runtime by 70%," "engineered $4M annual savings." * Strong proficiency across multiple programming languages - Python, SQL, plus one or more of Scala, Java, Go, R, or C++. * Deep expertise in data modeling, integration, and performance optimization (structured and unstructured). * Experience with Spark / Databricks / Glue / Airflow / Kafka / Snowflake / Redshift / BigQuery. * Strong background in cloud-native architectures (AWS, Azure, or GCP). * Familiarity with Agile delivery and modern CI/CD data workflows. * Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills. * Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or related discipline. Preferred Qualifications * Experience engineering consumer, SaaS, or product-scale data systems (e.g., event pipelines, user analytics, personalization engines). * Demonstrated ability to deliver business outcomes with measurable impact (cost reduction, performance improvement, automation gains). * Experience with machine learning data prep, feature engineering, or advanced analytics enablement. * Leadership experience mentoring or guiding cross-functional data teams.
