Nebraska Medicine is seeking a Kidney Transplant Coordinator to join the Transplant Team, located in Omaha, NE. The Transplant Coordinator will be responsible for managing and coordinating all aspects of care for kidney transplant patients, including pre-transplant evaluations, waitlist management, surgical preparation, and post-transplant follow-up, while collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and provide education and support to patients and their families throughout the transplant process.

Full Time | 1.0 FTE | Exempt Position

Monday - Friday | 8AM - 5PM

Job Duties: Transplant Coordinator

Provide and promote the delivery of 24/7 transitional quality patient care for a designated group of patients through role modeling, displaying excellence in nursing knowledge and clinical practice, and acting as educator for the transplant patient population. Provide a continuum of care and education for pre and post-transplant patients and their families (living donor or recipient) and serve as a patient advocate in the healthcare system and community.

Required Qualifications: Transplant Coordinator

  • Minimum of three years nursing experience or other direct patient care experience working with complex patients required.
  • High school education or equivalent required.
  • Bachelor's degree in nursing (BSN) OR Associate's degree in nursing (ADN) with 25 years of nursing experience required.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in written format required.
  • Ability to work independently and within a multidisplinary team, using good judgment and assessment skills required.
  • Ability to demonstrate competent leadership and teaching ability required.
  • Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in the state of Nebraska or current compact state license required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required, must be from an American Heart Association (AHA) endorsed program (effective for new hires starting January 1, 2023 or later).

Preferred Qualifications: Transplant Coordinator

  • Prior solid organ transplant experience preferred. Prior cardiology experience (ICU, CCU, or equivalent) preferred. Based on position, prior pulmonary experience (ICU, CF, PH or equivalent) preferred.
  • Master's of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree preferred.
  • Transplant coordination certification after two years of hire or transfer date preferred.
