The expected annual salary of this position is expected to be $81,351.20 - $109,821.20 based on a 56-hour work week, DOQ/E

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Performs all duties in a safe manner consistent with Town and Department guidelines
  • Performs fire suppression duties to the required certification level
  • Performs rescue duties to the level trained
  • Performs EMS duties to the EMT-Basic level
  • Operates apparatus to the level trained
  • Participates in required training and continuing education
  • Participates in company-level community relations and risk reduction activities
  • Performs hazardous materials duties to the required certification level
  • Provides customer service consistent with the stated values of the Town and department
  • Abides by and follows appropriate Standard Operating Guidelines, Administrative Directives, and Memos
  • Monitors Department correspondence, i.e. email, memos, verbal directives, standard operating guidelines (SOGs), administrative directives, etc
  • Required to perform facility, equipment, and apparatus maintenance and repair as assigned
  • Is subject to callback or holdover
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma/GED required
  • Valid Colorado Driver's License
  • Colorado Metropolitan Certification Board Firefighter I Certification (with successful completion of an approved fire academy)
  • Colorado Metropolitan Certification Board Firefighter II Certification (within one (1) year after successful completion of an approved fire academy if not in the curriculum of the academy)
  • Colorado Metropolitan Certification Board Hazardous Materials Operations Certification (with successful completion of an approved fire academy)
  • Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment EMT-Basic Certification or National Registry EMT with ability to obtain Colorado certification within one (1) year after date of hire
  • CPR/BLS Provider Certification
  • National Wildfire Coordinating Group (NWCG) S130/190 within one (1) year after date of hire
  • Colorado Metropolitan Certification Board Driver Operator Ambulance within six (6) months after successful completion of an academy
  • Successful completion of the Work Capacity Test (Pack Test) as per Department Guidelines
  • Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) National Incident Management System (NIMS) Classes (within one (1) year after date of hire)

o ICS-100, Introduction to Incident Command System or equivalent

o ICS-200, ICS for Single Resources and Initial Action Incidents or equivalent

o ICS-700, National Incident Management System (NIMS), An Introduction

o ICS-800, National Response Framework, An Introduction

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to perform duties in a safe manner consistent with Town and department guidelines
  • Knowledge of various computer software and hardware applications
  • Ability to learn and use various computer software applications
  • Ability to effectively communicate in verbal and written forms
  • Ability to speak, read, write, and understand English
  • Ability to learn, operate, and maintain firefighting and emergency medical services equipment
  • Ability to read and convey directions from various maps
  • Ability to follow directions
  • Ability to operate within the National Incident Management System
  • Ability to perform essential firefighting and emergency medical service functions
  • Ability to operate and communicate via various wireless communications devices
  • Ability to immediately respond to demanding, physically, and mentally taxing situations
  • Ability to work for prolonged periods in extreme conditions
  • Knowledge of personal exposure protection and prevention
  • Ability to understand and abide by federal, state, and local laws, regulations, policies, and protocols
  • Knowledge of Town specific information as related to community facilities and locations

Must satisfactorily complete a criminal background check, polygraph and psychological exam prior to commencing employment.
