How you'll make an impact

  • Primary focus of the role includes:

    • Providing guidance and assistance to account teams and clients using financial decision-making tools.
    • Conducting client-facing meetings when appropriate.
    • Speaking effectively on behalf of the underwriting team regarding core services.
  • Key responsibilities:

    • Analyzing data from carriers on clients and providing recommendations to account management teams or clients to effectively negotiate rates and funding levels.
    • Evaluating and presenting monthly, quarterly, and annual reports that measure client financial status, track expenses by product line, renewal projections, funding levels, and rates to account management teams and clients when necessary.
    • Evaluating, assigning, monitoring, and conducting peer reviews of reports generated by underwriting team subordinates.
  • Assisting in the preparation of presentations, campaigns, communication materials, newsletters, etc., for internal staff and clients/prospects regarding underwriting policies and scope of services.

  • Acting as a resource regarding industry trends and technologies for:

    • Account service and consulting.
    • New sales.
    • Additional sales to existing clients.
About You

  • Required:

    • Bachelor's degree.
    • 3 years of experience in the employee benefits field in an underwriting capacity.
    • Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows applications and Microsoft Office.
  • Preferred:

    • Advanced Excel skills.
    • Math or Finance degree.
  • Behaviors:

    • Detail-oriented with strong analytical skills.
    • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to multi-task to meet deadlines with quality and accurate deliverables.
    • Maintain favorable relationships with clients, vendors, and office staff.
Compensation and benefits

We offer a competitive and comprehensive compensation package. The base salary range represents the anticipated low end and high end of the range for this position. The actual compensation will be influenced by a wide range of factors including, but not limited to previous experience, education, pay market/geography, complexity or scope, specialized skill set, lines of business/practice area, supply/demand, and scheduled hours.
