Position: Communications Specialist

Location: Tulsa, OK

Pay: $15/hour + $1 shift differential

Experience: Previous experience in healthcare is preferred (EMT, paramedic, nursing, etc.) or previous dispatch experience.

Education: Associate's degree in Healthcare Administration, Computer Science, Business Administration, or Communications.

Type: Full-time; Contract

Schedule: Rotating 3 12-hour shifts and 4 12-hour shifts a week; 6 PM to 6 AM or 7 PM to 7 AM

ProRecruiters is seeking a Communications Specialist to join a growing and dynamic team!

Job Description:

  • Facilitate transport requests and prioritize emergency and non-emergency calls
  • Coordinate communications with ground ambulances, airport operators, law enforcement, fire departments, rescue groups, hospitals, and aircraft, in compliance with state and federal regulations
  • Monitor and track aircraft flights per FAA and/or vendor requirements to ensure the safety of patients and staff
  • Manage emergency communications and initiate emergency procedures, including the Emergency Response Plan (ERP) and Emergency Operations Plan (EOP) as needed
  • Recognize and respond to potentially unsafe situations to maintain safety standards
  • Maintain accurate written and electronic records, including transport activity, crew/physician details, and agency information that may serve as part of a legal record
  • Provide general office support and administrative assistance
  • Participate in training, competency exercises, drills, and staff meetings
  • Contribute to Safety and Quality Management (QM) Committees as applicable
  • Pursue professional growth through continuing education and involvement in professional organizations

Position Requirements:

  • Ability to remain calm and focused in high-pressure situations
  • Strong problem-solving skills with clear, logical decision-making
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with professional vocabulary and a diplomatic approach
  • Ability to respond appropriately across multiple communication platforms (phone, radio, email, text, etc.)
  • Discretion when handling sensitive information
  • Computer proficiency with accurate typing skills
  • General knowledge of maps and navigation terminology

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in EMS, medical office, or technical support
  • Background in EMS, Fire, Police, Air Medical Communications, or a high-volume call center
  • Knowledge of FAA Part 135 requirements
  • Familiarity with FCC rules and regulations for communication systems
