Key Responsibilities
- Operations Management: Oversee daily operations of two powder coating lines, ensuring efficient production, minimal downtime, and compliance with safety and quality standards.
- Quality Control: Implement and monitor quality assurance processes to achieve consistent, high-quality powder-coated finishes on retail shelving.
- Technical Expertise: Serve as the primary technical expert on powder coating processes, troubleshooting issues, optimizing application techniques, and recommending equipment or process improvements.
- Team Leadership: Supervise, train, and mentor coating line staff, fostering a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Compliance: Ensure all coating processes meet NACE standards, environmental regulations, and customer specifications.
- Maintenance: Coordinate regular maintenance and calibration of powder coating equipment to maximize performance and longevity.
- Process Optimization: Analyze production data to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and enhance coating durability and aesthetics.
- Vendor Coordination: Collaborate with suppliers to source high-quality powder coating materials and stay updated on industry advancements.
Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years in powder coating operations, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role. Experience with retail shelving or similar metal finishing is preferred.
- Certifications: NACE Coating Inspector Level 1 or higher required; NACE Level 2 or 3 preferred. Additional certifications in powder coating application (e.g., PCI Powder Coating Certification) are a plus.
- Technical Knowledge: In-depth understanding of powder coating processes, including surface preparation, application techniques, curing, and troubleshooting defects.
- Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead and motivate teams, manage schedules, and resolve conflicts in a fast-paced production environment.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with OSHA, EPA, and NACE standards for coating operations and environmental compliance.
- Problem-Solving: Strong analytical skills to diagnose coating issues and implement effective solutions.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to collaborate with team members, management, and vendors.
Working Conditions
- Full-time position in a manufacturing environment.
- Exposure to industrial equipment, chemicals, and moderate noise levels; adherence to safety protocols and PPE requirements is mandatory.
- Some overtime may be required to meet production deadlines.
