Position Summary

We are looking for a talented Cake Decorator to join our pastry production team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for pastry artistry, attention to detail, and the ability to create visually stunning and delicious cakes, pastries, and specialty desserts. This role involves working in a high-volume, fast-paced environment while maintaining the highest standards of quality, creativity, and consistency.

Key Responsibilities

  • Decorate cakes, tarts, pastries, and custom orders with precision and creativity.
  • Assist in the preparation of various bakery items including parfaits, bars, cupcakes, and mousse cakes.
  • Prepare icings, frostings, glazes, and fillings as needed for daily production.
  • Produce baked goods according to established recipes, par levels, and production schedules.
  • Assemble and decorate custom and layered cakes to meet specific customer or event requirements.
  • Maintain accurate production and spoilage records, adjusting quantities to minimize waste.
  • Weigh, package, and label bakery products while ensuring attractive and consistent presentation.
  • Monitor product freshness, rotate inventory, and uphold company quality standards.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary workstation and comply with all health and safety regulations.
  • Operate bakery and kitchen equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Follow proper food handling, storage, and labeling procedures.
  • Attend scheduled shifts, meetings, and training sessions on time and in uniform.
  • Perform opening, mid, and closing duties as assigned, ensuring accuracy in pricing and signage.
  • Support sales and customer satisfaction through excellent product presentation and consistent quality.
  • Report any safety hazards, equipment malfunctions, or operational concerns to leadership immediately.
  • Perform additional related duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Previous experience in cake decorating and pastry production required.
  • Skilled in layering cakes, icing, piping, writing, and fondant work.
  • Proficiency in preparing and applying icing, frosting, and fillings.
  • Experience glazing with fondant or chocolate and creating chocolate decorations.
  • Ability to temper chocolate and execute detailed decorative work.
  • Strong eye for detail and aesthetics in cake design and finishing.
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills; able to work effectively in a collaborative kitchen environment.
  • Able to lift 25–50 lbs and tolerate varying temperatures (both hot and cold).
  • Adherence to uniform and personal hygiene standards.
  • Basic understanding of food safety, allergens, and sanitation procedures.
  • Bilingual skills (English/Spanish) are a plus.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience in large-scale or high-volume pastry production.
  • Familiarity with bakery inventory systems and production records.
  • Strong time management skills and ability to multitask effectively.
  • Creativity and enthusiasm for developing new designs or seasonal pastry items.

Work Environment

This role involves standing for long periods, repetitive hand motions, and working in both refrigerated and warm environments. Team members must follow all safety and sanitation protocols at all times.
