[About Us]
Shift Dynamics Inc. is at the forefront of developing cutting-edge defense technologies, including advanced unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), artificial intelligence (AI) systems, and autonomous flight platforms. We are committed to fostering innovation and pushing the boundaries of what's possible in the aerospace and defense sectors. We are seeking exceptionally talented and driven individuals to join our team and contribute to our mission of developing next-generation technologies.
[Position Overview]
We are seeking a highly skilled Control Engineer with over 5 years of experience to join our Autonomous Flight Systems team. This role focuses on the design, development, and validation of advanced flight control algorithms for autonomous UAVs, including multirotor, fixed-wing, and hybrid platforms. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure safe, reliable, and high-performance autonomous flight.
[Responsibilities]
* Design and implement flight control algorithms for stabilization, guidance, and trajectory tracking in autonomous UAVs.
* Model UAV dynamics and develop control strategies such as PID, LQR, MPC, or adaptive control.
* Tune and validate control systems through simulation, HIL (Hardware-in-the-Loop), and real-world flight testing.
* Collaborate with perception, planning, and avionics teams to ensure seamless system integration.
* Analyze flight logs and test results to improve control performance and robustness in dynamic environments.
* Develop fail-safe logic, redundancy handling, and safety features within control architectures.
* Support certification, documentation, and compliance of control systems in safety-critical applications.
[Qualifications]
* Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Robotics, Control Systems, or a related field.
* 5+ years of experience in flight control development for UAVs or autonomous systems.
* Strong foundation in classical and modern control theory, state estimation, and system dynamics.
* Proficient in C/C++, MATLAB/Simulink, and control system simulation tools.
* Hands-on experience with flight controllers (PX4, ArduPilot, or custom stacks) and real-time systems.
* Knowledge of sensor fusion (IMU, GPS, barometer) and actuator modeling.
* Strong debugging, tuning, and problem-solving skills in flight test environments.
[Preferred Qualifications]
* Experience with nonlinear control, robust control, or MPC in real-time systems.
* Familiarity with UAV simulation environments (Gazebo, jMAVSim, AirSim, etc.).
* Understanding of autopilot architectures and embedded implementation constraints.
* Exposure to software development processes for safety-critical systems (e.g., DO-178C).
* Knowledge of system identification and parameter estimation techniques.
[What We Offer]
* A central role in shaping the control architecture of next-generation autonomous flight systems.
* Collaboration with experts across perception, planning, AI, and avionics domains.
* Opportunities to test and iterate on real UAV platforms in diverse flight environments.
* Competitive salary, full benefits, and career growth opportunities.
* Access to advanced simulation, testing, and prototyping infrastructure.
[Additional Information]
* This position may require eligibility for government or defense-related security clearance.
* Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.
