Key Responsibilities:
Design Development: Assist in the development of kidswear collections, from concept to final design. This includes sketching, creating mood boards, and developing fabric/trim boards for each collection.
Trend Research: Conduct regular market and trend research to identify emerging patterns, colors, and styles that appeal to the target demographic.
Technical Design: Create detailed tech packs, including specifications, measurements, and material details, ensuring all designs are production-ready.
Fabric and Trim Selection: Collaborate with fabric suppliers and the sourcing team to select appropriate fabrics and trims that are both functional and stylish for children's wear.
Sample Development: Work with the sample team to ensure that designs are accurately produced, providing feedback and adjustments as necessary during the sampling phase.
Collaboration: Partner with the merchandising, production, and sourcing teams to ensure designs are viable and aligned with product timelines, budgets, and production capabilities.
Presentation: Present new collections and design ideas to senior designers, the creative team, and stakeholders. Be prepared to explain the design choices, color palettes, and functionality considerations.
Quality Control: Ensure the final product meets quality and safety standards for children’s clothing, considering fabric durability, safety features, and comfort.
Documentation & Administration: Maintain and update design records, including sketches, boards, and project timelines, to ensure smooth communication across teams.
Qualifications:
Education: A Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design, Textile Design, or a related field.
Experience: 1-3 years of experience in kidswear or womenswear design. Experience with CAD software (e.g., Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop) and garment construction is a plus.
Skills:
Strong creative and technical design skills, with a focus on kids’ fashion.
Ability to work with various fabrics and materials suitable for children's clothing.
Knowledge of garment construction, fit, and technical drawings.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
Strong time management skills, with the ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
