JOB DESCRIPTION
Da Vinci Collaborative is a multi-functional educational company that provides services designed to support the academic growth of our clients. The role of Assistive Technology Specialist is to assess our students’ support needs and work with a student’s team to identify the technological supports and tools that will help to best support students' academic needs. Ongoing consultation and coaching support are provided to students, teachers, staff, and teachers on how to implement and monitor progress utilizing technology.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
● Ability to assess technology tools to support student's individual needs
● Continuously educating and researching new and innovative technology solutions
● Develop and maintain effective relationships with the district representatives, teachers, parents, and students
● Independently schedule all required consultation sessions at the beginning of the school year or ESY session
● Monitor student progress and teacher administration; adjust implementation as necessary ● Work well with and exchange information with other Da Vinci Collaborators
● Attend biweekly team meetings
● Communicate concerns regarding cases on a daily basis
● Complete all necessary paperwork and record-keeping, including session notes, sign-in sheets, and consultation summaries
SKILLS/CORE COMPETENCIES REQUIRED/PREFERRED
● Experience creating and/or working with technology to assist students with disabilities
● Effective interpersonal and communication skills; both written and verbal
● Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
● Strong analytical skills
● Able to work flexible hours to meet with parents, teachers, district representatives, and Da Vinci leadership
● Available to attend CSE (Committee for Special Education) meetings as requested
● Must be available to travel to a variety of school districts across Long Island
● Experience with Google Chrome extensions, iPad apps (especially AAC), Accessibility Settings, and Project Management Software
EDUCATIONAL/EXPERIENCE
● Bachelor's Degree - Required
● Background in Speech Language Pathology, Occupational Therapy, Education, and/or Instructional Technology - Preferred
● Experience with Children with Special Needs - Required
● Assistive Technology Certification - Preferred
